'THE LAST TRAPPER'. . .
Incredible movie. The whole thing is available to watch for free on youtube!
TAGANGA . . . COLOMBIA . . .
So our Colombian homies were on their way back to Bogota for a week of work and would hook back up with Sparkes and I in Medellin at an uncertain date. Sparkes and I sadly watched the crew disappear in a taxi and we were on the next bus to Taganga, which I was told was one of the main spots for exporting cocaine.
Taganga is a small beachside town renowned for wild parties, sketchy encounters with armed bandits at night and a good place do some ocean floor exploration. We ended up ticking all of the above boxes but somehow evaded getting robbed, which was not the same story for most other travellers we spoke to.

PARQUE TAYRONA . . .4. . . COLOMBIA . . .
It was our final day in the Caribbean paradise and we soaked up every second. Waking in my hammock was the silent killer, an 18 meter coconut tree which dropped a number of cocos during the night. lucky to escape a killer that takes more lives a year then sharks Papapyo and I decided to do a last minute hike up the little mountain to 'Pueblito' (Little village). The walk and sometimes climb cut its way through the moist, tropical jungle environment and sweat poured from our bodies as the humidity seemed to climb the further up we trudged. We explored the little Pueblito, rushed down the mountain, gathered our belongings and tried to do the 3 hour walk out in top gear as we feared that the Colombians Javier, Papayo and Algerian Saracita would miss their flights (which didnt bother me too much as I wanted them to stay around).
On the way out after a much needed 'jugo de maracuya' we saw something emerging from the deep green, jungle ahead and it was 2 young native children who believe it or not still inhabit the jungle with their tribe, living basically the same they have for thousands of years (may be a different story if you go to the village).

PARQUE TAYRONA . . . 3 . . . COLOMBIA
This sun soaked relaxing morning turned for the worst real quick when a small boat bringing supplies capsized. Papayo and I ran to fetch rope, but all we could find that would be useful was my hammock. We scurried over the rocks and as we got around the bend we anxiously searched for survivors, but all we could see was crates upon crates of soft drinks bobbing in the rough open waters. In the end all 3 men were saved only sustaining minor cuts, bruises and a serious loss as their brand new $5000 generator was now located somewhere on the oceans floor. On the beach for the next few hours random drinks would wash ashore, at nearly fridge temperature.
In the afternoon we went for a little hike down along the beaches and came by a number on monkeys, palms, sand, water and a joint generously passed around by a passer bye.

PARQUE TAYRONA . . . 2 . . . COLOMBIA
We stopped by this old ladies house which was situated in the middle of the jungle, beach side and we enjoyed some fresh baked buns with chocolate filling from a wood fire oven! Along the way we came by a really nice little beach and discussed going for a swim. A guy from New Zealand informed us that it wasnt a good an idea as there was a massive 2-3 meter long crocodilde on the beach about 20 minutes earlier. We thought he was pulling our leg until a few days later when some girls from Belgium showed us photos of the monster.
We paid an over priced rate to string our hammocks up or for a tent to rent for the next 3 days and were simply blown away about how strict this place was, felt like we were on a grade 6 school camp, but we met some good people and the the nazi style camp coordinators couldn't harm the unspilt nature!

PARQUE TAYRONA . . . COLOMBIA . . .
I think we were all happy to leave the parties of Cartagena behind us and explore some of the Colombian nature which we have been hearing so much about. First stop was 'Parque Tayrona' which is situated in the north of Colombia on the Caribbean Coast. Unfortunately we arrived to late to hike in so we ended up staying outside the park with a really nice family whose house was full of hammocks for people passing by. Their young daughter 'Luna' (moon) played the part of of guide/guard withe her man size machete. There was a snooker bar across the road, Sunday night and the music roared until the early hours of the morning. We had a couple beers and enjoyed some games of pool while the locals danced salsa in the dim-lit roadside bar swinging a young girl whose face looked exactly like that of David Gonzalez!
The following morning we had some breakfast, fussed over what to leave behind got searched extensively by police at the entrance of the park for drugs/alcohol and finally we were in paradise. Although our destination was some 2-3 hours away through the thick, tropical Colombian rainforest.
