On 5 January every year the Three Kings (or wise men) pass through in their carriages. The Kings and other participants in the parade throw barley sugar sweets and other sweets to the children lining the route. The days leading up to the parade allow the opportunity for children to inspect the Three Kings' boat and carriages, and to leave messages requesting gifts, which they (and adults, too) receive, traditionally, on 6 January.
so this was a bomb experience. candies were flying everywhere and the children were going crazy!!! it was pretty creepy though as many of the people were painted black for the place of the black king and his followers.
we then had a bombing dinner upstairs at marys aunties house. she was very excited to see the new addition to the family marti. she was very excited to have photos with him. she even cleared the table to present him.
AND a mega thanks to javier coca for sending us tim tams and a bob dylan biography box set for the reyes!!! (:
